Who is SoundTec?
SoundTec is an Emcee and Vinyl DJ based in Orlando, FL. From humble beginnings as a modest record collector, “Tec” connected with like-minds while in college. Bonding over music, architectural design, skateboarding and the sheer pursuit of good times, he and his crew grew tighter within the artistic sphere. They soon began DJing house parties together. What started as a hobby among pals lead to an endless indulgence of turntablism and vinyl culture. Simultaneously during this time period, Tec became immersed in rapping, often freestyling and battling among peers. As time went on, he found greater purpose in his rap style and lyrical skill and began recording a series of demos and mixtapes that showcased his abilities as both an emcee and DJ.
To this day, he spins vinyl exclusively; no laptop, no serato, no controllers. Crates of records, 2 turntables and a microphone are the key components used in his arsenal, paying homage to the innovation of Hip-Hop pioneers. Be it on the mic or behind the wheels of steel, SoundTec gives 110% in an effort to preserve Hip-Hop roots while delivering a fresh, unique style. Influenced by many, imitative of none.
As an event host and organizer, SoundTec provides a platform for other artists in the Central Florida area and across the country. He is the founder of “RAPZ & WAX” which is a monthly open cypher event held at Bynx Cafe in downtown Orlando, FL. In addition to his love for music, SoundTec is a life-long skateboarder and often blends the two worlds through hosting skate competitions that feature live Hip-Hop performances, open mic opportunities and other networking outlets in an effort to bring the skateboarding, music and art communities together.
From live performances to collaborations with artists around the globe, SoundTec is a contributor and curator for the boundless entity that is Hip-Hop culture. #sharehiphop
